    Custom guns...

Just wondering, for those here that have purchased a Nighthawk straight from Berryville...are they required to send you a "CA configuration", or can I order what I want in my pistol from their shop?

The reason I ask is that Ed Brown and Wilson seem to only send out certain configurations to CA as I understand...

For those wondering about what I want, I plan on ordering a T3 with the following options...

    1. serrate rear of slide
    2. checkered 25lpi rounded or bobtailed MSH
    3. high cut and checkered 25lpi front strap
    4. single side safety
    5. extended SS with recessed pin
    6. flush cut/crown barrel
    7. 10-8 flat trigger
    8. Heinie ultra low mount ledge rear sight black
    9. tritium front sight
    10. serrate and flat top slide
    11. ball cuts on slide to match frame
    12. Perma Kote in either diamond black or gun metal gray

I can order it through a family member that is LEO and have them transfer it to me, but I would rather not if I can order it how I want it rather than in a "CA configuration"

Thanks is advance for anyone with info, and yes, I've already emailed Nighthawk about this =)

The way I have seen it done is to buy the CA configuration and, after the DROS and wait, return it to NHC to have the work you want done. That is the way I have seen Browns ordered also.

You might call them and ask it they have an in-house procedure for this...either a work priority or price break

yeah, I know Browns and Wilsons come that way, but I'm not sure about NHC...if thats the case I'll have my family member buy it and just transfer it to me...

if my family member buys it they could probably give us a LEO discount which will more than cover the 2 DROS fees

that's pretty much what I figured, if that's the case I'll have my family buy it and then transfer it to me

I ordered my first Predator direct from Nighthawk. For the most part they would only send a basic CA approved version. They will allow small changes such as your choice of grips and sights, I was able to select the diamond black finish. But other mods I was told could not be done. For instance I wanted ball radius cuts on mine but was told it could not be done. I have seen some for sale locally without front cocking serrations on models which normally come with them standard as well. They will include a blended/fitted magwell but not installed if shipped to CA for some reason. You just have to put it on yourself. Best to call them up and chat about what they are/are not willing to do for you. They have very good customer service reps.

yeah, this will be for ccw, so no magwells, even for the officer size frame lol I'll probably call them soon if they don't reply to the email...I'm not worried, it will take 6mo at least to build lol

Any reason you need to buy from Nighthawk directly? My first order was, and if I knew then what I know now I would have done differently.

The folks at Nighthawk were a pleasure to deal with, dont get me wrong, but my second order was through George at Gunslingers. He is a great guy and may be able to save you a little under the MSRP. Just call or email him your specs he can give you a quote for your custom order.

I figure since I want it in a certain configuration, it would be just as easy going straight to NHC
