I detail stripped it once, down to each individual pin, mainly to see how it worked.

Basic strip = frame, slide, barrel and recoil spring

Detail strip = you take the gun completely apart... trigger springs, connector, trigger, firing pin, etc..

Sad and a waste of time, but I'm anal about havin clean guns sitting around (I shoot maybe once every 3-4 months, so I don't want my guns to sit around dirty for a long period of time.... even though I know a Glock can easily take it).
You detail strip your glock every single time you shoot it? that is just too much...

Yep, one time since I bought it in '93.

Simple takedown of slide every 1.5k or so rounds.
          CLP spray before each session.
I just did the first full-blown frame takedown at 5k rounds. Quite surprised at how clean it was.

I take down my STI TruBor GM after every session/competition. This is definitely unnecessary, but since the gun cost me almost $4k, I treat it with the utmost care.

I did a detail strip when I switched to Froglube, and when I did my trigger job. I generally don't do it. Heck, I usually don't even clean my Glocks usually. However, lately I've been interested in how FL performs, so I've been paying more attention to cleaning, etc.

I only time I detailed striped my G19 was when I bought it used and brought it home.

I only plan on detail stripping it when there is a problem.

One detail strip since 1986, about 25K rounds I guess. Didn't really need to, was working fine. Thought it was about time to, though.

I was shooting a Glock when shooting a Glock wasn't cool.

Always look after your equipment. From your toothbrush to your F-14. If it functions well dirty imagine how reliable it would be clean and well maintained. A tiny piece of brass could jam up the striker and you could lose a lot more than the 10 minutes it takes to clean out the striker channel.

Really? You punch out the pins, remove all the trigger mechanism, open up the slide and pull out the striker etc? Every range visit? What, do you go once yearly?

Depends on how much shooting you do in a yr.
