Looking at CZ 75's in 9mm

Now before you bash the 9mm, I already have a .45 1911 and a .357 Smith and Wesson. It's time to get a 9mm. So I was looking at the Sig P226 for the past few months. I have shot it before and fell in love. Only one problem. I have been looking at the CZ 75B's lately and I find myself strangely attracted to them. I have done some research and I really like the BD variant since it has the decocker. Also its half the cost of a Sig and I love saving money on the firearm to buy more ammo.

So tell me guys. Lets take Sig out of the equation for a sec. How are CZ's track record? I have heard so many great things about them and that it's a dream to hold. I was also reading that they are built extremely well and have the quality of Sig made guns. I find it very interesting that the CZ is a Czech made gun and funny since I am part Czech.

So now the question is, should I get a CZ 75BD or save up for a Sig P226 or get both? Like I said I really am digging the look of the CZ. Even their compacts are sweet looking.

I recently bought a CZ75 SP-01 and I honestly have never shot a pistol that felt better in your hands. I shoot 1911s most of the time, but the CZs actually feel better. That being said, I still shoot the 1911 more accurately, but that might have something to do with the number of rounds fired through each.

Get the CZ. I have an SP01 and love it. Good quality, accurate, comfortable, and a real great value. The only downside is that they are heavier than a lot of the other 9mms out there. Some people also aren't quite comfortable with the slide being thin and having less real estate to grip when racking. This is due to the inverted rail design. I have no problem with it though.

I have a Sig P226, and a CZ-75b. The CZ has been far more reliable, and is more accurate than any Sig I have shot. I've also shot several CZ-75b's in 9mm and .40, both private and range guns. The CZ's were all highly consistent, whereas the accuracy between the Sig P226/P229's I have shot has varied greatly.

So far, in my experience, the CZ-75b's (9mm and .40) are the highest quality, most accurate, non-custom semi-auto handguns I have shot.

I will say that the finishing inside my CZ isn't near as nice as my Sig, and that the trigger feels significantly different, but mine isn't gritty at all, very smooth. The again, you can see the attention to insuring the proper fit of the slide, where they hand filed it to fit. This may not look as pretty as the inside of the Sig, but the CZ-75b slide feels a lot tighter, no waggle whatsoever.

          YMMV.

Since I broke down and started shooting 9mm. All my guns are .45 and 1 9mm. I like yourself, had heard the praise of the CZ. I rented one and was quite happy with it. Down the road I will pick one up.

IMO you can't get any better then a CZ75. Great ergos, very accurate and easy to shoot, and super reliable.

Mine is a CZ75 SA (single action ) converted to Double Action so it has the high beavertail that I prefer. I compete with it. It runs great, I rarely clean it, and it didn't cost a fortune. Plan on a trigger job - that makes all the difference.

Get one - you won't regret it.

Well thanks guys for all the input. It really helps me out a lot. It looks like I'm going to have to head to the range and rent a CZ 75. I know my range has a Compact version. I am more of a Full Size pistol shooter but I think if I enjoy the compact version then I will enjoy the Full Size even more. Looks like I have a good reason to go to the range tomorrow

Well I got a P01 and never regretted it.

I shoot it better than the Glock 19 and the 9mm 1911.

My biggest concern is the polycoat finish though.

For a 9mm CZ throw a 15lb recoil spring in it and 13lb main spring and enjoy.

Might add the finish doesn't hold up to water to well. Over 8-10 hours in damp conditions it will fade.

I was also looking at the P-01 for the compact. If I like the 75B I may buy a compact as well.

From what I have seen and heard so far from other CZ owners, the polycoat finish is "extremely durable"
