    Range report Ruger SR9C

Took my new SR9C to Cordova range last night for the first time. Needless to say I am very happy with it. I put 150 rounds through it with better than expected accuracy. I haven't been shooting for a while so I did not expect to shoot as good as I did. I did an initial clean when I took it out of the box, used some Breakfree and got rid of the factory grease. Not as much grease in there as I have heard from others. Gun fits great in my hand was the main reason I decided on the Ruger. I tried many other guns but nothing fit my hands as well. Only problem I had was shooting to the right, I thought it was the gun at first then I let someone else shoot and his shoots were centered. I believe the problem is with me being a left handed shooter so I need to work on my trigger pull, or at least that is what I believe is the problem. I have been a Ruger fan for a good amount of time ever since I got my first Vaqueros about 15 years ago, and they have never given me any issues and it looks like I will get the same quality out of my new SR9C.

It's a great little gun, now if you want a full size grip then go buy some full size 10 round magazine and the magazine adapter

I wanted the SR9c so much but my hands are just way to big even with the pinky grip on it, i ended up going with the standard SR9 and i'm still very happy.

      ps
take some pics and get them in the Ruger thread

My SR9c has an adjustable rear sight - windage and elevation. I had to make a slight adjustment on both. It's one of my most accurate guns.

Welcome to the SR family. I have The SR9, SR9c and the SR40. The C is my favorite. When I got mine I was also surprised at how accurate it is they are great little guns. Enjoy your new Ruger and happy shooting.

Is the SR9C comfortable to shoot? Meaning, will an extended range session leave your hands and wrist sore, or do you think the gun was meant more for carry and less for range time?

I shot 150 rounds in about an hour yesterday and could have kept shooting. I was using the Federal ammo you get from Wal-Mart. The only pain I got was a little from reloading the magazines, but that will ease up after a few more trips to the range.

Jeff, when I go to the range I run about 100 rounds through my C and still want more (can't afford it) its a easy gun to shoot without getting tired.

Curley, you might want to pick up a UpLula loader it makes loading so easy, you best only take what your going to shoot or you'll just keep loading and loading and loading.

Congrats on the purchase! It's good to hear that the gun is treating you well. I just bought one too and it is en route from Ruger as we speak.

I got about a thousand rounds through mine without any sort of problems at all. Couldn't be happier and would trust my life to it.

I installed a Crimson Trace Laser light on my SR9C and gave it to my wife, it is now her personal defense gun, and I get still bring it to the range with me to shoot.
