looks like an old Iver Johnson swing out pocket revolver. lots of those kind of guns were made back then, usually not worth much, cant use modern ammo anyway.

Need to find and take more pics of all the markings on the revolver, look all over,on the front/back of cylinder, all over the frame, barrel, may even need to remove the grips. Is there a caliber stamp anywhere?

Offhand I am thinking it is possibly an Antique revolver-pre1899- based on the construction and over all design, at the very least it is a CR...i will look in some of my books

Hey, It is european good chance Belgian, but need more marking pictures. It is NOT a swing out revolver, what you would do is open the loading gate that is on the RHS-as seen in the picture- and then the ejector rod is pulled out of the front, the arm swings over and you hand eject-push out the shells one by one with the rod.. then you swing the rod back over to the left and push it back into the 'center of the cylinder'... basically where the ejector rod is on a swing out type revolver.

Based on the construction it is most likely an Antique and based on the barrel, probably along an 8mm/9mm rimmed type round... and DEFINITELY Black Powder ONLY.... if you find out what it would shoot..

It's my understanding the lion over the PV is the smokeless powder proof mark.

            What

Reaper, you are right. The bar on the right side swings out and the push rod also swings over to eject the empties. In the meantime, found mark on the frame that seems to show 7.65. And we are trying to decipher all the stamps on the frame and barrel. They do not show well and are difficult to photograph. We are trying to clean it up, it is covered in something that seems like shellac. Have lifted the grips and found nothing underneath and have been unable to find any indication of who made it.

It seems to have the following marks:

On the side of the frame, near the barrel = Insignia for a Lion, then, the Letters "P.V" then a " * ", then the letter "N".

On the side of the barrel, near the frame = Insignia of Lion, the "PV", then a insignia of a "crown", then the Letter "R", then a "*", then the letter "N"

On the bottom of the left front side of the frame it shows = 7.65 M (another letter like an H)very difficult to tell
