    Brakleen ok for SP101?

I'm looking for a GOOD cleaner for my Ruger SP101. This gun gets DIRTY fast... Far faster than my SIG P226 did. I already have a great lubricant (TW25B) and I've been using Mil-Comm's MC25 but I need something more powerful for areas like the forcing cone and the front of the cylinder. Obviously, I dont want to damage the gun though but the SP101 is basically pure stainless steel. Is it OK to use Non-chlorinated Brakleen?

I use brake cleaner all the time , it wont hurt nothing but does not "clean" it does wash away the loose crud . A lewis lead remover is great for the forcing cone and bore if lead is a issue and then birchwood casey lead removing cloth wraped around a flat surface for the clinder face if it has to be cleaned , i will often just use a tooth brush on the face of cylinder . I think to much scrubbing with a cloth there will round off the edges. the cloth is also great for polishing on stainless but will remove blueing

I agree. I use brake cleaner to start all my stainless guns without worry. You still have to use Hoppes or whatever else you might like to clean off the white chalky residue from the brake cleaner and you're good to go.

Is the forcing cone and cylinder supposed to be black? I'm finding it EXTREMELY difficult to get those areas totally clean as in stainless steel color. Granted, I haven't tried brake cleaner yet tonight.

it gets that way(you should see my GP100 after 300 rounds or so), its the first place any unburned or still burning powder will hit. I basicly gave up trying to get it shiney and new, brake cleaner, CLP or Hoppes and a bronze brush will get it off and completely clean, but I find it to be more work than it's worth, since it will just get dirty again in a day or two when I go shooting again.
