    DROS'd my first Glock today

I sold one of my dirtbikes this morning and promptly went and spent some of the money on a G34 from Triple A in Vallejo. This is the first Glock I will have owned and am wondering if there are any tricks or products that are "must do's/have's". I am kinda bummed that I have to work on my p/u day and the following and they are closed Sundays so I'm stuck waiting 12 days, but it'll be worth it.

It seems like every time I go through the 10 day wait it is like being a kid counting down the days to christmas morning.

You've done a wonderful thing. Save the money you would spend on "upgrades" and save for another Glock.

I say just a grip plug so no dirt will get into the action. Other than that you are good to go.

You have done the right thing my son. Go forth and bask in the light of your awesome decision. Can you tell that I like Glocks?

other than stocking up ammo, you really don't need anything for a Glock out the box. I notice you got the G34, which comes standard with the 4.5 connector.

It doesn't need much, but I always add the following just because.

            1. Wilson Combat Recoil Buffer (slits between the recoil rod and the slide)
            2. Grip plug not just to keep dirt out but to keep mags from "sticking" during tactical reloads. The slip right off that surface and into the hole with the plug installed.
            3. Extended slide stop makes it easier to work the slide.
            4. Extended magazine release makes it easier to reach the button.
            5. Night Sights help in low light and offer 3 dot during the day which I prefer to the Glock U shaped bar rear sight.

I also pick up a straight drop kydex holster for when you don't have to worry about concealment and a leather concealment holster for when you do plus mag pouches in both kydex and leather.

Congrats! I agree on considering a grip insert, extended slide stop and magazine release.

Shoot it stock first. If you are happy with it, leave it that way.

Don't let anyone talk you out of customizing your Glock if you want to. One of the coolest and most enjoyable things about the platform is the amazing range of modifications one can do if so inclined. IMO the stock trigger, even the G34 that has the "-" 4.5 lb connector, is still way too clunky, mushy, or however you want to describe it. Here is my setup:

                  G19/G34
                  ----
                  Smooth-faced trigger
Ghost Ultimate connector G19, ZevTech V3 Race Connector G34
Wolff steel guide rod w/15 lb spring G19, 14lb spring G34
Wolff competition spring kit w/standard striker spring instead of reduced
                  Talon Grips
Warren Tactical Sights - plain rear w/fiber optic front

I shoot American Eagle 147gr to great effect with these setups

Question, do you plan on using yout G34 in/around water? Moisture? If so, leave the butt plug out, the empty space behind the magwell is designed for water/debris to drain. If it's going to stay fairly dry then go ahead and put the plug in.

I told myself that I would never buy a Glock but actually I was always very intrigued with owning one. I recently purchased a G19 and I am very happy that I did.

I don't plan on doing any mods but then again, who knows...

shoot it first so you can see what you want.

I put in the extended mag release and slide lock lever

I feel the same way. I hate the full size Glocks, but the 19 actually feels really nice, and I seem to shoot my friend's pretty well. I wish they made a 19-sized frame in .45ACP.
