Bags/rest are always a good idea. Slow shooting or as I call it 'make every shot count' isn't for old people. It's for EVERYONE! Shoot fast means nothing if you can't hit.
The faster you shoot the worse you reinforces the bad habits and you don't even know it. Shoot slow, practice the fundamentals and make every shot count and soon enough you'll develop great shooting skills for shooting fast and have money in you pocket for more guns and ammo.

When it comes to 'rests', you can buy the ones you mentioned or you can make your own out of lead shot bags, heavy canvas or old jeans. Fill some sand or polishing media zip tie a lead shot bag and it makes for a cheap and solid rest for whatever you're shootin.

I just use my ammo box and a sock stuffed with rice, but if you want that one, go for it. It's always nice to know it's you and not the gun.

I have used sand bags since I was a kid, they seem to work fine still.
