Finally picked up my first gun today. It was a long ten days. Brought it home and cleaned it straight away. Even though it was my first time cleaning a 1911 or any gun for that matter, I found myself pretty familiar with it thanks to all the vids I've watched on youtube.
I did notice that there is a pretty deep scratch/crack-like line on top of the beavertail safety. It just have been done at the factory. I also had a hard time cleaning out the barrel. I used a jag until the patches came out clean but from the front of the barrel I can see the copper colored stuff around the edges of the rifling. Is this copper fouling from the factory?
Even though I bought a brass rod which I heard didn't scratch barrels, I came up with the idea of using a straw over the rod just to make sure. I hope theres nothing wrong with this idea as I'm sure i'm not the first person who thought of it.
I shall not has idiot scratch!!! lol
I already changed something on it...can anyone guess?
