S&W500 with Scope?

Hi all,
I recently purchased a S&W500 5" performance center. I've been thinking about putting a scope on it, but I've read that the recoil will destroy the rings, rails and ruin the scope. Some owners got their scope components fall apart inside, some rails and rings get chewed up from the muzzle flip. I'm looking at the Leupold FX-II does anyone have any personal experience with this scope and how it would perform on big bore guns like the .500 mag? Any inputs/advice would be appreciated.

I have a few scopes on handguns , My Freedom arms 454 has a Thompson 2-7 on it and it has survived . Leupolds warranty is excellent and I have a 2-8 on a contender 7-30 waters .
