    Remington 1911 R1

Just looked at the Roster, and didn't see Remington on there, period.

I don't suppose they're now owned by someone else?

No R1 in CA, I guess.

Rule number one? According to whom? Those opinions weren't the subject of my post, either.

Your on a forum. I can throw in what I'd like. Sorry you didn't like the answer and don't take it so personal... It was just a little talk I heard. Could be true could not be. Someone who actually knows 1911s will step in shortly. And give some real insite on them. It could be true or just FUD.

Sorry. I could have worded that more politely. The topic of 1911's can become heated. Quickly. I was just trying to find out whether Remington is, indeed, off roster entirely in CA.

Single shot exempt. No prob. Looking for an FFL that will do it is another story.

Oc armory can single shot one for you. The only way.
No new true 1911 will be added to the stupid roster because 1911's don't have mag disconnects or a loaded chamber indicator that can be seen on the moon, or whatever the hell distance the stupid law says.

Thanks. I didn't realize OC Armory is doing that!
I also hadn't paid attention to know whether that R1 was new or older, and therefore ahead of the ban...er...roster.

I like the R1 and was going to purchase one however after shooting one I would recommend the R1 Enhanced or get some trigger work done on it. The regular versions trigger needs work. I wish that I could more appropriately describe its shortcomings but that is my opinion along with several of my competitive shooting friends. Great gun and built well but just my experience.

Valkyrie Arms in the South Bay also deals with off-roster.

Personally, I'd rather get an SA Mil-Spec.

Be patient. Pro-gun lawyers are working hard to change that.

In the mean time you can find great prices on SW1911PD models and Kimber Custom IIs on Gunbroker.com, especially if they are gently used. I rarely see good deals on Springfield Armory Loadeds even when they are beat to hell. Springfields are the most recognizable brand name for 1911s next to Colt. So people can get away with asking insane prices for them regardless of the condition. Most of the time the same rule applies to Kimbers, but at least once a week I see one go for an insanely low price. I got mine for $625 shipped. It was damn near new. I've since seen damn near new SW1911PDs go for $500 and they had all the bells and whistles including a light weight frame.

Long story short, if you a patient you can find a hell of deal on an "on list" 1911.
