    Ammo questions

Sorry if my questions are dumb but I'm completely new to anything related to guns. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area (Contra Costa County) and I'm considering purchasing a handgun soon but I wanted to find out the following first.

    1. Is it legal to buy ammunition online and have it shipped to my residence? If yes, is there a limit to how much I can buy?

    2. If not, is it legal to buy ammunition from a gun shop or sports store? If yes, is there a limit to how much I can buy?

    3. If not, is it legal to buy ammunition from a gun show or range? If I can buy from a range do I need to use it all up at the range or can I take some or all of it home to keep?

    4. Is it legal to store ammo in my house? If yes, is there a limit to how much I can legally keep at my home?

Again, sorry if these are stupid questions. I really appreciate any responses anyone can give.

    Thanks.

Generally yes, however some cities/counties to ban online ammo shipments. There's no limit, buy as much as you can afford.

    2. If not, is it legal to buy ammunition from a gun shop or sports store? If yes, is there a limit to how much I can buy?

Yes, it's legal to buy ammo from a gun store or other shop. Again, buy as much as you like.

    3. If not, is it legal to buy ammunition from a gun show or range? If I can buy from a range do I need to use it all up at the range or can I take some or all of it home to keep?

Yes, it's legal to buy from a gun show and/or range, again, buy as much as you like.

    4. Is it legal to store ammo in my house? If yes, is there a limit to how much I can legally keep at my home?

Yes it's legal to store in your home, and there are no limits that I know of. Some cities/counties do have limits on gunpowder storage, but that's not the same as loaded ammo.

Again, sorry if these are stupid questions. I really appreciate any responses anyone can give.

    Thanks.

      1. Is it legal to buy ammunition online and have it shipped to my residence? (YES as long as you are not prohibited by law I.E. Convicted criminal) If yes, is there a limit to how much I can buy? (I Don't think there is a limit, but not 100% sure.)

      2. If not, is it legal to buy ammunition from a gun shop or sports store? (Yes, same as answer 1)If yes, is there a limit to how much I can buy?

      3. If not, is it legal to buy ammunition from a gun show or range? (Yes) If I can buy from a range do I need to use it all up at the range or can I take some or all of it home to keep?(unless the range you go to has some weird rules you can shoot the ammo their, take it all home, or shoot some and take some. In my experience most of the range ammo can be a little overprised, so I get mine elsewhere.)

      4. Is it legal to store ammo in my house? (Yes)If yes, is there a limit to how much I can legally keep at my home? (No if I'm not mistaken)

An observation. Has something happened that makes you feel you need a gun. You have come to the right place for answers. Your next questions will be what brand or caliber?
I suggest you find a gun shop and range and try out a few.
