    CA Approved Question

    I want a Ruger SR1911.
    It is not CA approved.
Does that mean I go to the pokey for having it?
Is it legal to purchase it private party from someone who purchased it out of state (which I have heard, just that my LGS can't sell it to me)?

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
The Roster is a restriction on FFLs, who by law may not sell off-Roster handguns to non-exempt people.

LEO may buy off-Roster handguns - they're excepted.

    Private party transactions are Roster-exempt.

    Intrafamilial transactions are Roster-exempt.

Purchasing out of state is, however, not legal for folks who do not have some kind of FFL. I'd stay away from someone without an FFL who tells you he/she bought a gun out of state, and does not also tell you that he/she just moved to CA.

See the wiki artices http://wiki.calgunsfoundation.org/in...e_Handgun_List and http://wiki.calgunsfoundation.org/in...rms_Interstate.
