The TLE II is a really solid choice. If the store I purchased my Kimber from had that model available at the time there is a very good chance I would have ended with up with a TLE. The only difference between the TLE II and the Custom II, I believe is the TLE's front hand strap checkering and the Meprolight night sights that come stock.

Personally I couldn't care less about the front of my grip being checkered or not, if I want an unbeatable grip I'd just slap a Hoag wrap-around on it.

As for the night sights...I personally feel they make the gun feel MUCH more accurate, especially on a standard indoor range where the lighting is somewhat dim and the targets you're shooting at are most likely black or other dark colors.

After just purchasing my Custom II, I can tell you that I will DEFINITELY be adding some type of aftermarket sites. It's pretty much between Meprolight night sights or target sights with fiber optics in the front/rear(Kimbers target sights only have the dot on the front sight i believe, correct me if I am wrong.)

Good luck man, and no matter what you decide to get you can always add or take off accessories, that's the beauty of 1911's!

Thanks for your replies everybody, appreciate all the help.

Aldemar, when I finally get my Kimber out of the shop we should shoot sometime, I think we're somewhat local.
Definitely hit up Jim for your work. He did the sights on my custom II. I got a deal on a set of meprolights and he installed them for $40 in less than a day. I have been trying to get over there to have him finish off some trigger work. If you guys hit up Northridge Firing Line, let me know.

        Being north of

Sorry about that. I had a good amount of PMs that I tried to respond to. I ended up withdrawing the sale and keeping it for now.
