You could do that, but you would have to get a custom cylinder made that had .45 LC chambers cut into it, that were not able to accept a .410 shotshell.

Its legal if you buy it with the .45/70 cylinder
They actually make one of those in 45/70?

          yep

M.I.L., Inc makes the Thunder Five, a 5-shot, short-barreled revolver chambered for .410/.45 LC or .45-70.

Wait - would this be possible to import and DROS it as a .45 and just as long as you don't put any 45/70 within 1 billion feet of it - can it be had?

its declared by the Manufacturer as being chambered in .410/.45 LC so you can't really say its not (.45/70 is actually ok)

So who is going to be the first to send the manufacturer an email? And who is in for a group buy?

Unfortunately if it was only made by Cobra, they went out of buisness in 1982 I think...
Probably pretty hard to come by unless I'm really wrong about Cobray.
Maybe somebody else is making them these days.

No one is going to send a .45/.410 pistol to CA if they know any better. I know quite a few people with Contenders that wanted a barrel in .45LC and ended up having a custom barrel made that won't accept .410 shells.

Just Curious, but anyone know the approx price of a Thunder 5? No price shown on their website.

Interestingly, Taurus make a very similar .45LC / .410 revolver, plus you can get it in stainless too!
MSRP is $503 blue, and $553 stainless.
