Well I was thinking of buying a shotgun to go with some friends skeet & trap shooting. One said to me" go check out what they have at Ammo Bros" I did, then ended up buying an XD-40 instead w/5" barrel. I have an XD-9 but have always wished it was a .40 so I bought it, now just waiting on the 10 day quarrantine....my wife is probably not going to be happy...oooppps

Congrats, hope you like it. I just found out a couple of days ago XDMs are 6 o'clock hold. Are XDs as well?
I have another question to ask you since you own a couple of XDs now. Yesterday a gun instructor told everyone in the class that if you let go of the grip safety while opening the slide of an XD, it will lock and that you will have to send it to Springfield. Have you heard/experience this?
I've owned two XD/XDMs but have never heard of that.sigpic PM 4 Front Sight diamond

Sounds like that instructor had a little to much coffee that morning. I've never heard of it happening before. Even if it did happen, it wouldn't be to hard to fix. I've taken my xd9 tact apart down to the frame and done everything imaginable to it.sigpic In order to succeed, you can't be afraid of failure.Comment

I somehow managed to lock up my slide on my XD-45 one time. Not sure how exactly I did it though, nor am I sure how exactly I managed to free it up. But I was struggling with it for 10 minutes or so and ended up with a scratch on the slide from the takedown lever. I have heard of it happening to others on XDTalk but not sure what the consensus was as far as how it happens/what to do if it happens to you... being that I no longer have the gun I have not bothered researching it further.I have another question to ask you since you own a couple of XDs now. But they lack the features that make the Glock the excellent pistol that it is. A 1911 is an enthusiast's toy, not a serious combat pistol.Comment
