Sig 1911s

[Can't buy anything here]

Was looking at the SIG site and wondered why you don't see more of these 1911s...they look really nice and Sig is so well known for their reliability. Anyone have one of these?

I was checking out a C3 compact on Friday. This may be my next .45 purchase.

First off Sig USED to be known for reliability but not so much anymore. I've got a West German Sig and a US made Sig. The W. German feels as if the slide is on ball bearings, the US made Sig is a rattle trap.

There are a lot of Sig 1911 out there but for the cost a lot of people would rather have a Springfield and get a forged frame rather than a Sig with a cast, myself included. For all you cast is good enough people I'd still rather have a good forged frame any day of the week.

I personally love my sig 1911. IMO they are the best bang for your buck 1911's except maybe for the Dan Wessons. I bought my Sig over a Springfield loaded. I think the reason you don't see many is because they are fairly new players in the 1911 market and their first couple year 1911's has problems. Big reason why I went with dog over springfield is because it's made in the good ole US of A

They have a different style to them as well, sharper angles on the slide than the browning design.

I think they're cool but I'd only jump on one if it were a killer deal, for the money I'd get an SA or S&W

I really like the scorpion but its not on the roster. Reminds me of the Kimber desert warrior. Of course, neither one is on the stupid roster.

I found a great deal on a Sig and jumped on it. It's the most accurate and fun to shoot gun that I own.

Like someone else said, there is a huge quality difference in the older German made Sigs and American ones, but this doesn't seem to be the case in my 1911 or 516 AR-15. I've shot 5000+ rounds through my older p226 and it still feels as good as the day I first shot it. My American made .40 sig has a lot of slop between the frame and the slide.

My Sig 1911 has a little bit of rattle between the slide and frame, but it is 100% reliable and accurate.

Isn't the slide also wider on the SIG than a normal 1911?

I have a Sigarms GSR revolution target (Sig doesn't make them as well anymore, at least from what I have heard) My GSR does not rattle at all. It is the best fitted 1911 I have ever handled in my life. No MIM parts. I have only had ftf's with wag cutters. All in all it is a great 1911 worth every penny I spent on it. I do not know about the new Sig 1911's though. But I would definitely recommend getting a GSR.

Also I think the squared off look is quite unique. It caught my eye for sure.

Sig 1911 Target?

Has anyone owned or fired the Target model? I saw one and held it today at my local gun shop. They were asking $1059 for it. I really liked the overall fit and finish, and the wood grips were gorgeous. That stainless steel slide was really attactive. I was also attracted to the hot young babe who worked behind the counter, so maybe I was caught in a moment of weakness.

Is that a good deal for this model of Sig 1911? Is this a reliable piece? How does it compare to the XO, or the TTT models?

I think part of the reason you don't see more of them around is because the first models had some minor problems (that were warrantied). You know how the www is, they quickly got a bad rap for those minor issues. Since they have fixed those issues and even discontinued some of those models, the Sig 1911s have become very popular and they are hard for me to keep in stock.

Sig has come a long way in the production and reliability of the 1911 line. I have shot most of them and they are as good as some of the much higher end guns. The target and tactical models are hand fitted and the reliability and accuracy is very competitive.
