    XDm 9mm range report

So I got the xdm-9 about 2 weeks ago but didn't get a chance to shoot it until today. Gun shot straight right out of the box and I was getting good groupings for me (2-3 inches) at 7 yards after I got comfortable with it. However, I did have 3 FTE and 1 FTF through 200 rounds of RWS ammo and no issues through 50 rounds of Federal HSTs. I'm hoping this is just the break in period and won't happen in the future. I've read up on limp wristing and made a conscious effort to keep a firm grip at all times. Any one here have experience with this ammo or had these issues during the initial break in period for this gun?

This is my first pistol and even with the hiccups above I'm loving it. Sorry but haven't had time to take any pictures yet. Will try to upload some soon. Thanks for reading.

I rented a XDm9 and it was a nice gun. My issue with the XD series guns is the way they designed the slide which includes a roll pin for break down. I really frown upon complex designs like this. The issues you're having could be from a number of things. However, if all of the problems you did have came from using one type of ammo then I'd lean more on the ammo being the problem. Go buy some quality ammo and see if you have problems. If you do them take the gun back or call Springfield and ask them to fix it.

For what it's worth, none of my Glocks have had a FTF or FTE out of thousands of rounds, so neither should the XD, get it fixed.

I had an M&P, Hated it. Switched back to XDm 40 and shot perfect out of the box.

I shoot blazer ammo all the time at the range and have never had an issue.

Might be the RWS ammo. Never got to shot those as they aren't allowed in my nearby ranges but I've been shooting WWB, Federal Champion and Rem UMC since day one. 3100 rounds with no problems whatsoever in my XDM 9mm.

I've never had an issue with RWS in my new Sig 2022 9 or Beretta 92FS. It could just be limp-wristing or the gun is just breaking in still.

For the Glock fanboys (I am one, by the way), I've seen Glocks FTE and FTF on the line in many a range qualification session from experienced shooters as well. All guns can have issues because they are machines, and no machine is completely flawless. Some come pretty close, though.
