disassemble the mags or you'll be breaking the law of "importing high capacity magazines."

I mean, who needs to dive bomb when SHTF? That only happens in movies.

Mags yes. I did when I was in AZ a couple months ago. They dont ask for your ID when you buy mags.

If your purchase a gun it will have to be sent to a CA FFL. You cant cash in carry with an out of state DL. I believe this is for both handguns and rifles, but it may only be for handguns.
I believe if you have a C&R license you can cash and carry a C&R gun tho

Doesn't matter if you bring the highcap back you are committing a felony
You can bring it back disassembled but if you put it back together without limiting it to 10 rounds that's a felony as well

Arizona? Unless we've had an earthquake that has scrambled the river, Laughlin is in Nevada. (The AZ side of the river appears to be Bullhead City, but maybe locals call it Laughlin...)

I have a similar question: can I take a bullet button and 10rd mag with me to AZ, buy an AR, instal the BB and switch the mag and have it shipped to my FFL. I imagine this would bypass some of the "won't ship to CA"

If you can find a store that will ship it to your FFL and they will let u mod it then yes this would be a good thing to do. But once its at your FFL you will still have to wait the DROS 10 days as I understand it. Plus it has to be an OLL...

How is this cost or time efficient at all unless you are already going to Arizona?

you do know you can buy an AR here right? Or you could just build your own? Either of those options will save you about $100 in fees give or take just for receiving the gun at your ffl.
