    Anyone have a Ruger LCR?

Girlfriend wants to buy a revolver so she can carry in AZ (and hopefully here someday). She already shoots and all that jazz, she just like revolvers and I've read a lot of good things about it (especially from female gun owners who carry).

Anyone here have any personal comments or concerns with it?

I've owned an LCP and shot many other Ruger firearms that I thought ranged from just fine to exceptional. Just trying to get a feel of where the LCR stands in that range.

Here's a woman who seems to like hers

I have the .357 version and I like it. Not something I shoot on a weekly basis but it gets the job done. The trigger pull is long but nice. I use it as a secondary backup gun for work on my ankle. It's a good piece.

The LCR .38 is an awesome piece. I don't have one but have fired my friend's extensively. Super light, great trigger and very accurate, especially for a snubby. I'm getting one soon.

You lucky dog! (I'm assuming you're LEO or were lucky enough to find one through PPT...)

I have the 38 special version. I ordered the model with the night sights and it also came with the Boot Cut grip. I didn't like the grip so I swapped in the 'standard' Hogue grip which fits me much better.

The sight picture is a little different than my other guns: I put the "big dot" on whatever I'm aiming at and fire. No need to line up the rear sight slot.

The DAO trigger is great just as all the reviews say.

Recoil is mild if I use my reloads. It has a good kick with factory 38 special loads and even more with +P but neither is painful. For carry it would be a great gun (mine is a backup for HD.)

I had one for a while, the .38 +p with a night sight. It's definitely a fun gun to shoot, and is great for carry as it weighs less than a pound. I used an Uncle Mike's pocket holster and I barely even noticed it when it was in my pocket.

The recoil is pretty stout with factory .38 loads, and if you use +p it's pretty rough. If you have big hands, your trigger finger will be digging into your thumb with the recoil as you fire. Other than that it's a great gun!

I've had the .38 spl model for about a year now. It's equiped with the factory installed Crimson Trace laser. I can't say enough good about it. It's my everyday carry gun in my pocket at all times I can carry.

I shoot about 50 rounds of lead 125 gr rnfp a month and a few 'carry loads' every once in a while. As mentioned above the sights are a bit different but at 25 to 40 feet I point and shoot anyway.

It's hard to remember sometimes it's in your pocket so watch out there!

It's tough to get out of your pocket when driving so I slip a Mexican single flap holster between my console and driver seat and it goes there when driving. I sit on the flap and the LCR sits real nice in the holster.

I highly recommend it as an every day carry gun.

I have a .357 as well. I like it a lot. Shooting full house .357 in it is stout but not unmanageable at all.

A .38 version with big dot night sights and the slimmer grip is my EDC. It's in my right front pocket now, as a matter of fact. I carry it with .38 +P HPs with one backup speed strip. I have no desire for the .357 version. It's heavier, which is a major disadvantage for pocket carry (but probably wouldn't matter for holstered belt carry) and the .38 version is already a full handful with +P loads. I like mine enough to trust my family's life to it. It's reliable, light, accurate, and powerful, but a range gun it is not.

My wife has the .38 Special version (on the CA roster) - it seems like a good little gun. It's a little unpleasant to shoot with standard 158 grain loads or +P - but I bought a case of the 148 grain lead wadcutter ammo and that makes it fun to shoot. I'd still prefer +P for defensive use, but the lighter loads make practice pleasant enough that my wife will actually do it.

I've thought about getting one for myself, but am also tempted by the possibility of having 10 rounds of +P+ 9mm in a Glock 26 that's not a whole lot bigger.

I Love mine. I have a .38 Spl. version w/the XS Big Dot tritium front sight and Houge boot grip. It has a better action than any stock S&W J-frame I've owned in the past 35 years. Easy to carry. Easy to shoot.

The .357 version is not on the roster and is really hard to single shot. A friend of mine wants that one, where can we find it?

for a hammerless DAO trigger pretty good design. considering how lightweight it is, it has a good kick in the wrist, but is managable.

In AZ, I would suggest a Ruger LCP, not the LCR but thats just my preference

                            I have one.
The trigger weight is really good and the pull is really smooth.
My problem is that there's a little click before going to reset and I end up short stroking the trigger. I'm use to feeling for the reset click and that throws me off.
I have a Safariland speedloader that doesn't work well with it because the big grip gets in the way.
Think I'll eventually sell it as I've replaced it with a S&W BG38.

                              Bought one for my wife.
                              She hated it.

She has a 92FS now and my buddy has the LCR.

Your GF would be better off with an SP101, or a small semi-auto like a G26 or XD9 Subcompact.
