is this for an anti-tweaker/wilderness pot-grower piece? a 22 isn't really going to be good against wildlife... The one thing about being outdoors is you might get a free pass on a backpack or fanny pack gun that would otherwise arouse suspicion in the city.

I like the ruger sp-101 because:

      1) it's small enough, but tolerable- fun actually, to shoot 38 +p's thru and 357 magnum is ok in small numbers.

      2) it's a ruger so you can toss it in a lake or off a cliff if you are about to have a run in with the man.

I think these were available, at one time in 9mm and 22lr, but most of them are 357 mag 5-shots.

        340

Ya this is to fend off the crazy people living out there to wildlife. I am leaning toward the S&W 340. Super light and shoots 357. Not to worried about kick. When I am at camp Ill shoot my .45, AR, 30 Carbine or the like for fun. This is for self defence only while on the move.........

This thing (340) can't kick more than the Domminator with 308?? I am going to see if the local range has one to try.

GLOCK 26 or Khar......MK series is what I like.

Both small and on the approved list.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered....
I am not a number! I am a free man

2.)Why is it that if guns are sooooo unsafe that you're 9 times more likely to die at the hands of your doctor?
3.)Remember...Buy it cheap & stack it deep

Gottta go with either of those revolvers. Not a lot of stuff to worry about with a revolver and no worries about limp wristing it due to being in a weird shooting position. All around great little piece.

If you want real small then get a Baby Browning .25 or a knockoff. IF you want to actually protect yourself but want light get a J frame revolver and put Federal Hydra Shocks +p .38's in it and you'll be fine. Remember, those tiny little guns are for OH-POOP situations and if you really think a .25 is gonna save you I hope your a really good shot and that you are lucky....... Just my opinion, I could be wrong.............

Wouldn't be much of a loss to do what you suggest because he got tired of carrying the thing. You could also use it as a sinker if you're fishing.

It's not a matter of kick recoil, it's that there's nothing combatting the motion of the gun. So it flies with .357. I can shoot 460/500 Magnum all day without a hitch, ok not quite all day, but without any problems. There's a lot of push on the gun, but it's managable because the gun is a boat anchor. With the .357 out of the little guy it makes the gun wanna leap. I have a hard time keeping the trigger guard from slapping my finger. If you're in LA I have one; you're welcome to try it.

                    Mighty Mag..

I would suggest a 32 Magnum J frame by S&W..lots of 32's can be shot to get practice with and the 6 shot J frames packs enough punch for trailgun use..a nice package for sure..and the ammo is available if you look around..I shoot 32 Longs and 32 Mags all the time..a nice non-kicking magnum for anyone who wants a mighty magnum..

                      My $0.02,
Go with a J-frame revolver or a Glock subcompact.

Already discussed on several (current) other threads....*usually* legal in SOME areas....... as the immortal line goes......
