i know safariland makes a six shot spring loaded speed loader but they do not produce a seven shot version. does anyone know of any other manufacturers that produce a seven shot version for a s&w 686?

    5 Star Firearms.

They make 7 and 8 shot speedloaders. They're made of aluminum and they're the twist type. They are machined of high quality and run you about $25 each. Personally, I wasn't a big fan of em because I was used to the Safariland spring ones. Safariland speedloaders also felt like they held the cartridges more securely. You can toss one across the room and they'll still stay in place. Can't say the same about 5 Star.. but it really has nothing to do with quality cause as mentioned.. its top notch, its moreso the nature of their design.

Take look at the SL variant at Bobby Mac's

Video by Michael Bethencourt on five common speedloaders. He covers the SL-Variant last

Awww man.. still no 8 shot.

I heard there is already an 8 shot model in Germany or something, they found a way around working with the thin nature of the 8 shot.. but can't find anything on it.

          congrats to OP though!

Thunder Ranch and 5 Star Firearms both sell an 8 shot speedloader. No SL-Variant that I know of, though.

5 Star Firearms designs and manufactures the DC Series push-button revolver speed loaders, supported by a full line of precision aluminum speed loaders and shooting accessories.

If you decide to carry these then be aware they are a larger diameter than the Safariland or HKS versions so you will need a larger pouch.
