Yes. I believe dealers should automatically give DROS (Dealer Record Of Sale) documents to new-gun buyers, don't they? A dealer did not give it to me. When I asked, he told me that I should have asked; otherwise he would not give it out. Does it make sense?Comment

I know on my longgun purchases I just get receipts, both register and hand written with purchase information on them.Comment

19. Is the dealer required to give me a copy of the DROS information when I purchase a firearm?
Upon request, the dealer must give you a copy of the DROS application. In private party transactions, the seller is also entitled to a copy of the DROS application upon request.

If you ask for a copy of your DROS, then the dealer will give it to you. The dealer is not required to give it to you automatically. If you don't ask, you won't get it (usually). I say usually because on my first handgun purchase, the dealer did give me a copy of my DROS without me asking for it. On my subsequent handgun purchases, I didn't get a copy of my DROS, nor did I ask for a copy.Comment

Not to hijack but while on the subject of DROS....
When I purchased a gun from a store yesterday, the dealer charged me $35 for the DROS. Is that how much it is suppose to cost? I thought it was $25...Comment
