I took my new M&P40 sat to the range and put 250 round through it. It had absolutely no problems and so far I really like it, but it's no 1911.
My frist hand gun was a Kimber TLE II and it shoots awesome, I wanted to get a beater gun so the M&P was a good choice. The first thing I disliked out of the box was the trigger. I don't like the way it picks up or the creep. I ordered the APEX trigger kit to see if that fixes the problem.
Accuracy was a huge difference between the two. With my 1911 I can group about 1.5" at 7yards and with the M&P it was more like 3". It maybe that I just need more practice, but I will take better accuracy from a larger bullet any day.
The last thing is weight. Fro some reason the M&P feels heavier than the Kimber, not a big deal since I don't carry, but I was surprised.
I'm going to run another 200 rounds through it tomorrow, but so far I like it, but I'm not blown away. I'm going to save up for another 1911 with a rail.
