    ordering from bud's

    hello all,

i am new to owning firearms and i had a quick question which i hope you all can help me with. i want to purchase a gun from bud's but i believe the gun is "off roster" (is that how you say it?) its the Para Ordnance GI Expert 1911. i am actually not 100% sure that this weapon is off roster. but if it is isnt there a way around that rule? and how does that work please? i am located in San Diego and does anybody know of an FFL around here that will accept guns from bud's without charging an arm and a leg? thanks again.

I don't think that 1911 is on the roster either. To double check google "ca doj roster" (sorry don't have exact link) usually it is the first result.

If it is NOT on the roster you will have to find a shop willing to do a "single shot exemption"(do a search manny threads on this).

    Or

Save the extra $$$ that you would spend on the SSE and get an on list 1911, like the
Rock River Arms I think only $399 if you look. About the same price as the GI if I'm not mistaken.

Can't help you on the FFL referral. I'm sure someone from So California can help with that.

I glanced over the list of approved firearms and didn't see the model number listed. Doesn't mean its not there cause I went through it pretty fast so I might have missed it.

Check here for approve firearms. http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/safeguns_resp.asp

I wonder if Buds would even ship a non rostered gun to a dealer here in CA. You might have to find an out of state middleman to convert it to single shot compliant. After that try Gusslers in Santee or Direct Action Solutions in Solana Beach. Those are about the only FFL's here in San Diego I choose to do business with.

Have you tried Table Rock Arms? http://www.tablerockarms.com/

They can sell you a single-shot conversion of the gun and then ship it to your FFL of choice that will accept it.

If their distributors don't carry the gun you can order one from budsgunshop, and have it shipped to them and they'll do a single shot conversion for you for $100.

If you are unfamiliar with Single Shot Exemption, read up here:

Most San Diego FFLs will accept transfers from Bud's for a fee, give them a call first to see what they charge.

I've used Gussler and Poway Weapons & Gear (the latter is closest to me and the OTD total ended up being less so that's what I use.)

I've had bud's cancel orders in the past when trying to order a gun and have it shipped to an out of state FFL.
