I believe they're allowed to renew, but not to re-submit if they do fall off of the list.

Now, other interesting thing - if I'm not mistaken, the DOJ can demand re-evaluation of up to 20% of the weapons on the list, each year. I imagine they would only be held to the standard they were held to at the initial certification, but if they get the gun to fail the drop-test once, they manage to get it off the list forever.

Geo- if you're looking for a good price on one, try James @ Ordnance Outsellers. A lot of the guys of sigforum buy from him. He's great to deal with and his prices are great. CDNN will have some good deals on SIG pistols, but I think they refused to ship/deal w/ people from CA. At least on guns.

James is always more than happy to ship to CA, and he stocks 10 rounders just for us.

I've been eyeing Ordnance Outfitter's prices for a long time. They seem to carry some pretty good deals. I'd like to buy from them one of these days as well, so it's good to hear all of the positive feedback that folks have for this place.

I bought one of my (three) P228s from Ordnance Outsellers, specifically the 11/2005 GOM version that is Two-Tone. James treats customers well.

Well the real question I think is would Sigarms even want to renew it since they are stopping production of the P228?

There are a bunch of guns they are not going to produce anymore and it would not make much snese to renew the DOJ lisitng on those. Now if the distributors of these guns want to still be able to move the current inventory of them maybe they can get together and submit the fees.

Shall we try to call Sigarms customer service to express our interest for them to continue listing the older or discontinued models for another year or so? E.g. the 225's and 228's. So many toys, so little money, so few 30-day periods.

Also, is the only way a regular blued, non-rail 220 going to be put back on the list is if it comes with loaded chamber indicator and mag disconnect now?

I see a couple solutions here.

First, contact SIGRAMS to ask whether they plan to renew the certification for the P228 (and P225). if not, request that they do so, and tell others of this so that other requests will pour in.

Second, buy one sooner rather than later, just in case.

I tried to contact Sig about the listing status of the 220 & 245 prior to their expirations. The transferred me to voice mail and never returned my call.

Do what I did with regard to the X-5. Write a genuine letter, addressed to the right people. Do a search in this area of the forum for the letter I wrote, which gives names at SIGARMS.
