I'm glad this topic came up, I've been thinking snub .44 my self. The 454 sounds like the hot ticket; kind of like being able to slap some .38spc in the .357 for plinking day.

I bet she didn't realize that she had been shooting one handed the whole time. I wanted to see more woodland and less of her getting abused by that snub.

For the fun in shooting range... I will be good.

Otherwise I would go with S&W 629 with 5" barrel.

I think 5" is very well balanced between barrel length and weight.

I've always eyed the Ruger 454 snub nose since it came out. Originally, it was selling for under $700. Couple months later it was just under $800. And now since the movie came out, they are now +$1200. Some people asking $1500! Ridiculous!! Not worth that much, which the full size variants sell for much less.
Another alternative is the Taurus 454 snub nose, which nobody seems to know about.

$700 or so. For that price, I'd rather pay the extra $50 bucks or so and get the Alaskan from Budsgunshop and rest assured its gonna go bang each and every time.

              That thing looks painful! I'll stick with a 4" 629 44mag
