    Glock 32 Problem

I posted this over on the glock talk forum but havent had any responses. Figured I would post my issue on here and see what you think.

I went to the range today. After about 30 rounds the trigger on my G32 became stuck in the rearward position.

I ejected the mag and cleared the chamber of the live round. The slide would cycle back and forth but the trigger would not reset. The trigger seemed to be stuck but not all the way back. When I would depress the trigger the slide would actually move a few mm like I was seing the travel of the trigger spring.

I field stripped the gun and inspected it. I saw noting wrong. I grabbed the trigger bar, moved it forward and the trigger reset. I reassembled the gun and put an additional 20 rounds through it without issue.

I stopped by my local gun shop on the way home and we disassembled the entire gun, inspected the springs and internal workings and found nothing wrong.

Upon just coming home I went to clean my guns and decided to give the G32 an extra inspection. Upon inspecting the frame I noticed that two pieces of plastic from the frame just behind the rear metal frame rails had been sheared off.

I took the attached picture comparing the frame of my G23 (on the right) with the G32 missing the plastic parts.

Could this have been the reason for the malfunction?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I would call GLOCK customer service and send them the picture and ask them to remedy the problem for you. Their weapons are known for reliability and they do not want to lose that positive reputation. I would speculate them doing a complete re-work for you leaving you with a practically NEW GLOCK.

Ya I am going to call them on Tuesday. Just not sure if the problem with the trigger is related to the missing plastic on the frame or not. I am thinking maybe the trigger bar or the connector could have shifted and gotten stuck where the plastic should have been or even the plastic could have been stuck in the mechanism and fell out when I field stripped the gun.

        In before "limp wristing"

In all seriousness, it does sound like that piece of plastic may have wedged in the trigger group somehow and fell out when you field stripped.

Definitely give glock a call and let them know about both the trigger problem and the damaged frame.

Not sure of the series question. Gun was purchased 6/2000. Probably have no more than 500 rounds through it. Serial is DSFXXX.

I've had a similar issue with my 23c. Called Glock they were reluctant to send me out a shipping label. They directed me to a
Glock armorer in the area to inspect my pistol.
After a detail break down and cleaning the pistol ran fine. Hope this helps you out.

It almost sounds like the front of the slide may have jumped the rails somehow. That could explain the trigger not resetting and the plastic in the rear getting sheared off the frame.

List your location, you might have a glock armorer near you who can detail strip it and take a better look.

When I would depress the trigger the slide would actually move a few mm like I was seeing the travel of the trigger spring. That's concerning because usually the only time a trigger will not reset is because of a broken trigger spring, but the slide should lock forward. I have seen a couple of Glocks do that, but the problem was where the rear of the trigger assembly contacts the frame. There has to be about 1mm of clearance. The 2 guns in question were actually touching the frame, and sometimes they would run, and sometimes not. We did a field repair on one by filing some clearance on the back of the trigger assembly, then both got sent back to Glock for a new trigger assembly.

It almost sounds like the front of the slide may have jumped the rails somehow. No, you cannot assemble a Glock if the slide is off the front rails, and if it is off the rear rails it will not run.

So your G32 was running and then you noticed a chip of plastic missing?

                      Here is my G23

                      E series, old news,

For those that don't know about the "E" serial numbered Glock issue here it is.

2002 Frame Upgrade – Rear slide rail

The GLOCK Corporation has identified a problem with a very small percentage of GLOCK pistols produced between September of 2001 and May of 2002. The specific problem that has been identified is the potential of breaking a rear frame rail in pistols manufactured during this time period. Within the specific range the breakage rate has been less than 0.0188%. So, while the actual percentage of rails reported broken is within any accepted manufacturing tolerance, it is not an acceptable situation to the GLOCK Corporation. It is also important to note that under most conditions GLOCK pistols will continue to function with three rails. A routine maintenance check after each time the pistol has been taken out and used would immediately indicate if there is a problem.

Even with a broken rail a Glock will keep running. Most guys that had this problem didn't notice until cleaning time.

Frankiejoe577... I am in Windsor CA just north of Santa Rosa. Probably about an hour from you. Was at Bullseye Range in San Rafael when this happened.

Highlander51... to answer your question; while shooting the trigger became stuck. The trigger was not all the way back, I could depress it a little and when I did the slide would actually move back and forth a few mm. After field stripping I did not see anything wrong and moved the trigger bar forward resetting the trigger. I shot another 20 rounds whithout a problem. Took the gun to my fav gun store on the way home and we took the entire gun apart and inspected. The trigger spring was fine. Not until I was cleaning the gun did I see the broken plastic parts.

Is your connector stock? That lilttle rounded portion of the connector that is just to the left of your right, rear frame rail is what is pressed by the slide and resets the trigger. If that is bound up with trash, damaged, or too short, it wont reset. It may just be the perspective of the picture, but it looks short on your 32.

Everything on the gun is stock exept the extended mag release and slide stop release.

The only parts linking the trigger to the slide are the trigger bar and the striker. Normally the stiker contacts the trigger bar and pushes it froward to reset the trigger while at the same time the trigger bar pushes the stiker rearward into firing position.

If you could push the trigger bar forward with your finger and there was no binding, then I would be suspicious of the striker assembly. It could either be gummed up so the stiker is jammed in the rearward position and it cant push the trigger bar forward, or the striker spring could be broken or weakened to the point of being unable to reset the trigger.
