    S&W gun info needed.

I'm trying to find the frame style letter designator for a model 586, 6" barrel, and a model 4026. It seems at least for the model 4026 that it must not have been a very good gun since it was only made for a few years, and there is next to nothing about it online or in the gun books.

I also have a .38 revolver that I can't find a model number on. It has 1437 stamped in the crane(?) area where s&w usually stamps model numbers, but I cannot find anything made by s&w that is a model 1437. The serial number is 2825XX. If what I have researched is correct, this gun is a 5 screw gun.

Thanks in advance for any info.

If it's a 5 screw it's more than 50 years old, the number you are seeing on the crane is probably an assembly number, the pistol (seems) to be some type of pre 15 model... You can learn more over on the S&W Forum including listing of S/N's by year & Model in the FAQ... Those guys will want to see pics too... (Us Too)...
