Ruger LCR

Is this a reliable and decent gun? I'm probably going to buy either this one or the SP101. Haven't shot the LCR yet and I'm not sure if my range has one, but I've shot the SP101 and loved it, but the weight and bulkiness is definitely a con since I was looking for a pretty small "pea shooter" type gun as a backup for my SIG P226.

Another thing too is that I am somewhat new to revolvers so I'd like to use .38 special but am I going to want that .357 capability later on? I'm not sure because right now seems like .357 is too strong of a round for a small backup; I'm not sure how accurately I could shoot in a scuffle with it.

my 5' 100lb wife shoots a .38 special snub nose lady smith and drills targets at 15-25 yards all day long. A snubbie .357 should not be a problem. Myself going from an auuto to revolver does not work so well in my brain for some reason

IMO for a BUG a .357 is too heavy. I can't think of any reason why a BUG should be of a more powerful caliber than the primary.

My thoughts on the Ruger LCR and the S&W 442:

Might as well get the LCR .357 version since you can use both .38 Special and .357 out of it.

Unfortunately I think the .357 version is not on the roster. Double check on that.

You're right... Therefore, nevermind. Haha. I think I'll go with a SP101 if I buy a new revolver soon. It just seems like a more comfortable gun from what ZombieTactics had to say.

Bought an LCR for my wife.
She put 3 rounds through it and handed it back.
I put 70 rounds through it and put it down.

Sold it to a friend who wanted a featherweight and bought myself an SP101.

I love shooting the SP101. I hated shooting the LCR.

LCR is a nice lightweight BUG, but you won't want to spend a lot of range time with it. Get the SP101 to maintain proficiency on a wheelgun.
