    The quick question thread proposal

I have been inspired by another forum - please ask your quick questions here so that the forum doesn't get cluttered. IMO there should be one of these for centerfire rifles too.

    For example:

"can I convert this gun from .40 to 9mm and how?"
"how do I register my gun?"
"is this gun on the roster?"
    "where can I find XYZ?"
"where do I PPT in ABC area?"
    "recommend me an XYZ"

This would be for questions that come up probably all of the time but people still don't read stickies/search the site/google before asking and/or can be definitively answered in a couple sentences or less.

Now let's say you have a malfunction to diagnose, or something more discussion related it would not belong here (please no more "school me on random gun X" threads unless it's a new gun or older more rare gun). Just saying though, your "Glock vs XD vs Sig" thread has probably been done before.

Nice idea BUT every assumed "quick question" always seems to evolve into something more as everyone has an opinion or comment on the topic. So, in the end, even the "quick questions" are as long in nature than one not intended to be "quick" as human nature is to tangent and whatnot.

But I do get the point/goal - just not sure it would work as intended.

Those tangents and ramblings tend to be irrelevant to the OP anyway. The questions I have listed pretty much have one correct answer but even if it's one of those "recommend me an XYZ" things, people can provide their suggestion and be done with it. If you look at the first page of the handgun section, think about how many would fall under this thread's category and how much clutter/repetitiveness would be avoided.

Quick question... why don't you just bypass the quick questions?

Forums/databases/libraries/etc. are most useful when they are easy to navigate and streamlined. Sure it makes my life easier too, but it makes the forum better overall as well.

            Good idea, in theory, yes...

Will it work? Not a chance.

It can work, but it will involve participation from the community and increased work for the mods. I have seen it work with other forums.

Is this so serious that you feel you need to regulate an online forum? Get a life.

Didn't know that trying to make things better pre-empted me from having a life. Participated in the forum positively lately (no off-topic and "nice pics" doesn't really count)? If everyone thought the way you did, we wouldn't have most of our stickies or the flowchart...

                      ?
I think it's pointless cause the tread would be cluttered with random questions and answers.

Ban? I think you misunderstand. The thread limits the clutter so repetitive questions can stay in that thread and be asked however many times people want. Since, of course nothing has changed here since the forum started... not that either of us were there in the beginning.

isnt this just accomplished by posting in the appropriate forum?

                              My ban face...the f*ck?

i was just joking about the whole ban thing.

OP,I was just saying that the thread wouldn't work cause people would still post those kind of threads, and this thread would be too confusing to read.
                              That's all I am saying
