    Yet another roster question

From what i understand a LEO can by a off roster gun.
So he buys a used gun (S&W 686 competitor for example) from out of state has it shipped here, does all the necessary paperwork, then he decides he doesn't like it so he sells it to me PPT.
Does that work? it's not a straw purchase since he never bought it for someone else.

Granted it is time consuming and added expense but possibility since you can't do a SSC on a revolver.

Yes, if the LEO does not like it, once it is in the state, he can PPT it to us normal folks.

But from reading your post, it sure raises some eye brows?? you say it's not a straw purchase, but your explanation of why it's worth the added time and expense, sure makes it look like the LEO is buying for you, because a LEO would have no need to do a SSC , might want to edit your post????

I think you can make it single action.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

LEO may sell legally acquired off-Roster handguns to other CA residents, just as any other CA resident may sell.

Yes, single action revolvers that meet the minimum dimensions are roster exempt.

Would not be a straw purchase because leo would do a legal PPT to the OP.

with a barrel length of not less than three inches, and meets
                  any of the following specifications:
                  (1) Was originally manufactured prior to 1900 and is a curio or

least 71/2 inches when the handle, frame or receiver, and
barrel are assembled and that is currently approved for
importation into the United States pursuant to the provisions
of paragraph (3) of subsection (d) of Section 925 of Title 18
                  of the United States Code.
Single action, 7 1/2 inches OAL parallel to bore = good to go.

So if you don't find a LEO who's bored of his revolver, you'll need to get someone to convert this to SA, then ship it. Once you own it, you can convert it to DA if you wish.

Also: Keep an eye out on Gunbroker for people selling this who are located in CA. You can still PPT one from someone if they already have it here and are also a CA resident.
