Glock 21Sf features

I was wondering what the features of the 21fs was I always thought it was just a slim frame but I went to rifle gear this morning and held one and he said there is 2 types one is slim frame and the one I held was something else with still the fat frame...


Can you guys exolain all of the changes of that than the original 21 and between the 2 sf versions?

Or send me to a link with all of the differences?

I googles and only came up with the frame is slimmer... And some have shark gills on the slide (ugly IMO)

SF stands for SHORT FRAME..there is no Slim Frame designation..there is however a single stack .45 auto GLOCK called the GLOCK 36...but nobody calls it a SF model.

The Short Frame is the same thickness as the other large framed GLOCKS (the GLOCK 20 in 10MM and the GLOCK 21 in .45 auto)..what is different between a GLOCK 21 and a GLOCK 21SF is the fore and aft measurement of the grip. The Short Frame is slightly shorter so smaller hands can fit around the grip a little better.

What GLOCK did was shorten the distance about the same amount as removing the finger groves (on the GEN 3 weapons with finger Groves) the SHORT FRAME measure almost the same as a GEN 2 without the grooves.

Hmm usually rifle gear has good info. I liked the fit of the sf tho. Did they do away with those ugly as* fish gills on the frame?

The gills were only for the RTF 17 and 22.

SF designation shows as "SF" on the frame, just forward of the slide release, directly above front of trigger guard, and yes, yes, yes, it IS "short" frame, not slim frame, special forces, special frame or San Francisco . . . My suggestion would be to buy both, then sell the one you are less fond of to me, at a deeply discounted "used" price, of course.

Owning both, it's my opinion that the difference between the SF & "regular" 21's are extremely close in feel...I can't feel much if any difference. I've read where the difference is like maybe 1/8"... IMHO, FWIW.

^I have the 21SF, and while, to the naked eye, the difference is negligible, my hand notices it. The original 21 frame is a bit of a reach for my hand, the 21SF feels much better.

As far as different types of 21 SF frames, from what I know, the difference has to do with the dustcover rail. The one I have just has the one slot in it, like all Gen3 Glocks, for the mounting of lights/lasers/bayonets/strobes/pop-out flag with "BANG!!" printed on it.

The other type of SF frame has a full picatinny rail on the bottom of the dustcover with 3 slots for mounting all those things mentioned above, plus a M203 grenade launcher.

They don't make that one anymore. People had problems with the ambi mag release. Glock was replacing the picatinny frame with a standard SF frame if the customer wanted it at no charge.

The difference between the regular G21 and G21SF is the size of the backstrap channel on the rear of the grip. The regular 21 has a bigger semicircle on the rear backstrap channel and the 21 SF has a shorter one.

I personally prefer the SF model because it's a little more comfortable to hold but the difference between the two isn't much. I have the G21SF but if I had the regular 21 I could get used to that also.

I believe the difference between the two SF models is that one has a regular picatinny rail on the front and has an ambidextrous mag release. The other SF model has a standard Glock rail and regular mag release. I have the one with the Glock rail and regular mag release.

I own a 21SF, and found that the distance from trigger to backstrap is the same as my G17. Only difference is the width between the two. Really easy to change in between shooting both since that distance is the same.
That being said the width of the 21SF fits my hand better.

The 21SF is the one on the right.


BTW: Some of the standard rail 21SF were ambi-mag release also (like the Pic rail ones). Mine is a ambi-mag release model modded to be extended single side. Internals are ambi-release.
