CZ-52 9mm Barrels

Classic Arms has some new 9mm drop-pin conversion barrels for the CZ-52. http://www.classicarms.us/index.html
Just ordered mine today for $45.00, since cheap surplus 7.62x25mm ammo isn't going to be around forever.

Anyone here had any experience with 9mm conversion barrels before?

I have one from Makarov.com. Works OK, but I have to occasionally push the slide forward to finish cycling the action. It works much better with a lighter recoil spring.

I thought the whole reason of buying a 52 was that it shot tokarev? Otherwise its not very special. Just stockpile ammo like the rest of us

ya 9mm is pointless. just 20k rounds of cheap ammo for your life. the TOK ammo is special, it will go through things :-)

I have read that the barrel is weaker because it gets pretty thin around the rollers.

I got mine because of the 7.62x25 ammo. More accurate and higher velocity than 9x19. If I wanted a 9mm I would go with a CZ-82 (which I will soon I think).

The CZ-82 is a 9x18, not 9x19. Completely different. And the CZ-83 is a .380 auto or 9x17, another completely different round.

Yes, I know a CZ-82 is a 9x18, but there is little difference in performance between the 9x18 and the 9x19. Although I can see the price of ammo being different.

Neat. One word of caution, check it before installation to make sure it's not a threaded barrel (the first batch of 'em, a few years back, were threaded if I recall). If it is, you can't install it until you remove the threads, or you have yourself an assault pistol.

Understood, the Tokarev is one of my favorites pistol rounds. I have over 3.5K of 7.62 Tokarev saved up for a rainy day, and plan to buy more. Just thought it would be cool to shoot the CZ-52 in a caliber which I won't miss as supplies will never run low. As barrel prices go I think 45 bucks is a relatively inexpensive conversion if it allows me to practise shooting with a more common round, too.

I'm pretty sure from the picture, these barrels aren't threaded, but thanks for the reminder.

I've got one of the old Federal 9x19mm conversion barrels, and it works fine. Both types of ammo feed well from the same mags.

The chamber is a bit tight on mine - I've had some trouble with certain reloads and oddball ammo - but mainstream factory ammo has always fed well.

The thin chamber problem is present on all CZ-52 barrels, and doesn't seem to be a big deal if you don't overpressure it. Might want to avoid +P+ ammo...

Only makes sense, since 9mm is a bit less powerful than Tokarev. Pull a bullet on a 7.62x25 sometime and try pouring the powder into a 9mm case... You can do it, but there's no room to put a bullet.

I need to stock up on Tokarev. And maybe get a 9mm barrel. Just for grins.
