A lot of people don't like Kimber. Go to the 1911forum and even calguns. See how much people talk **** about them.

It is the same thing that Taurus gets. You will get people that hate them and people that swear by them, it all just depends. You need to sift through the garbage though.

I have not had one myself. I do see several people at the range who really like their Kimbers. I know one guy said he had feed issues with certain ammo. But he loves the gun.

they're beautiful but crappy. There were plenty of articles and threads saying that they have malfunctions all the time and they break little too soon as well.

            I'd go with a Colt

I'd rather be carried by 6 than judged by 12

RIA makes exact replicas of colts 1911. They shoot straight and had no issues with what ammo it can shoot. However it is made overseas. Springfield isn't that much more than kimbers. Colts are always nice. I personally avoid kimber due to a long rep of issues (or so I've heard) I own SA, RIA, and DW is on the way.

I've owned and own Springfield, Colt and Dan Wesson and want to try a Kimber someday but will maybe try picking up a lightly used one to give it a shot. I shot my friends Eclips some time ago and it had feeding issues every so often during the range session. I was a newb to 1911s then and thought it was normal to have a 1911 jam every so often but thats not the case with my Colt or SA or DW. he never really kept his Eclips clean so I'm guessing that could have been part of the problem.
