I guess that's understandable. But not relevant to my situation. I'm going to be receiving a pair of 1911's in exchange for services I am providing. I intend to keep both - but in the event that I have to sell off one of them (i.e. my wife needs new Jimmy Choo's) I figure I might as well pick the most popular options for that pistol. Because of the rarity of this type of pistol in CA, the popular options are unknown to me which is the point of this thread.

I see no need for a rail on a carry piece.

Home defense piece? Okay... I wouldn't do it, but I won't knock the guy who wants a tac-light on his HD gun... but that gun should be a fullsized, 5"+ barrel for accuracy and sight radius.

The real trouble begins when your shoes are expensive too... while railed commanders aren't as common, the people who want them really want them.

This one was a full rail operator that was cut down to commander.

That looks like SA's champion operator. I love the way the slide & rail cuts line up - so sexy. I think I may just get the 2nd pistol as a railed commander anyway since it's my intention to keep it. It'd be pretty neat to have one considering I'll have a more traditional commander to keep it company.
