    Any advice appreciated

Hi everyone...I'm new to the site but have been reading the posts for a few days. It is really awesome that we have our own CA gun forum. Just a couple of quick questions...I own the 686p S&W revolver and will soon purchase a 9mm auto...don't know which one - the two favorites of mine are G19 and M&P 9mm...any advice on which one? Also, living in Riverside Cty. (SoCal) can anyone recommend a good place to purchase? I've seen internet prices from $399 to $499 but the places I've looked, Bass Pro, Turners, Local gun stores, are all around $550 to $650...any advice will be appreciated. And once again I'm glad to be here. Thanks.

Are you sure you've seen $399 for a NIB Glock on the internet? That's below dealer cost.

No kidding! That's cheaper than I can get them with a LE discount.

      Hook it up!

Welcome to the forum! Now as for the two guns, it's a toss up, both are fine guns, I do not own either one, but have shot the G19 and one of my friends has an M&P 9 and loves it. If you can find it online for about $100 cheaper (including shipping) then you can go to Bright Spot Pawn and have it sent there and DROS done there for $55 i think. That's how I bought my last two. You can try Buds Gun Shop online as they have pretty good prices. Oh definitely try out Classifier's forum.

There is an LEO only dealer in San Diego that sells 9mm and .40cal Glocks for $399.

Due to my lack of knowledge with the S&W Auto I would buy the Glock. I have several Glocks and plan on buying more. Glocks are extremely simple to modify without the need of a gunsmith.

I would recommend finding a range that has both models for you to rent or find a buddy that has one.

          Good Luck with your purchase!

Call Riverside Magnum range in Riverside, and Magnum Range in Rancho Cucamonga to see if they rent the models your interested in and shoot them Before Buying anything.. You might decide (depending on personal tastes) that you want a Sig or HK instead.. Magnum in Rancho also has a pretty good selection of pistols to Fondle. ENJOY the Hunt!!

That is where I got my G27. However, it cost about $600 with extra mags and trijicon night sights!

They're both pretty good guns, but I would recommend the Glock, since it will be your 1st.

You'll have the advantage of being able to swap parts out easily, a huge amount of mags floating around out there, and an extremely reliable and time-tested gun.

Of course, I would highly recommend firing both before buying, though any differences you perceive can be overcome with training.
