    S&w 586

So I was completing my DROS on the very mint condition BLR I bought here from ShyChineseGuy, when I mention in passing to my FFL (who doesn't stock guns, mainly just sells ammo) that I originally intended on getting a lever action in .357 and a revolver to go with it. He asks if I'm still in the market for a .357 revolver, I say I guess, he produces a almost mint condition in the box S&W 586-4 in .357 that his grandpa who owns the shop is selling.
An half an hour, a few hundred bucks and more paperwork later I've bought another gun! I just went in to DROS, damn it!
Pretty much an impulse buy, I think I have a problem!

Very nice! You can't beat a 586 for fun shooting in my opinion. I looked for a cherry one in California for so long that I eventually gave in and bought the CA-approved 7-shot 586 (yes, with the lock). I'm still on the lookout for one without the hole in the side, but damn if it isn't a sweet shooter. Enjoy!

Sweet purchase. Mind sharing how much you paid? I'm curious if the market price has caught up with my 586 purchase .

$400 and I'll post pics after my 10 days is up. It's in damn near mint condition too, Grandpa apparently didn't shoot more than a handful of rounds through it.

Oh noooo....not a 586! Those things are the worst revolver ever made! They shoot too straight, they are perfectly balanced, bombproof solid action, and they look too good. I think you need to get rid of it immediatly by selling it to me so I can put it next to the other three I have in my safe. (two 6inch, one, 4inch) c good
P.S. Congrats on a great revolver at an excellent price.

Oh, sure... you have a terrible problem! I'm betting that most members here would LOVE to have that affliction! But - lucky for YOU it only set you back around $400... ... going to a doctor to get CURED would cost way more than that.

When I read about stuff like this, I can only shake my head and wonder when it'll be MY TURN to fall into something nice like this. Congratulations on a nice score, but don't forget -

You owe your FFL buddy a few margaritas, Bro!

This is one of the things I'm looking forward to most about being a Wyoming resident....... I can buy used guns from anywhere I want and I don't have to worry about any stupid lists. I found a NICE Python a while back out of state for $500..... somebody who didn't know what they had was selling it for about half of what it was worth. Couldn't have it shipped here as it's not on "the list." Needless to say, it was sold by the end of the day and I wasn't the buyer......

My 586-1 6" is my favorite revolver by a pretty good bit. I've got Hogue rubbers on it, which some call heresy, but they really make it a great range gun.

NOPE! I hear Oregon and Washington are taking care of that problem rather nicely already!

Found this on gun broker. Why wouldn't this be for sale to CA? Couldn't he do a PPT at a CA FFL?

It does say "not for sale in CA" and I see this often on guns that are already in CA - I'm sure it has to do with the gun being a dealer sale & not a PPT although the specifics are not clear to me. Someone will give a "by the book" answer.
