Anyone with any experience with the FNP 45 Tactical? How does it compare to something like the Sig P220?

I like the options that the safe/fire/decock lever gives, but with a high grip, the decocking lever will dig into the knuckle of your trigger finger when decocking.

Also the Tactical has some issues for California, namely the threaded barrel which makes it an assault weapon. The Tactical also has raised sights intended for use with a suppressor or cowitnessing with a micro red dot optic.

I would'nt say the FNP owns the P220. I would say that both are very nice .45s, the 220 has proven itself overtime and must be considered along with the 1911 as one of the best .45s ever designed and manufactured. The FNP is newer and getting a larger following as time goes on, its ambi controls and the option for cock n locked single action only operation is a huge plus in my book. Its a very soft shooter and very accurate with a nice single action trigger and reset. Downside can be ammo sensitive does not like underpowerd loads.
Besides 1911s they are the only two .45s I own, not the tactical model just the FNP USG. The P220 is a Elite SAO.

My dislike is that the sights on the FNP Tactical sit very, very high and are narrow as compared to their height. I like big blocky sights very much, but these are just too narrow & tall, I think.

Anything FN makes is gonna be good---having said that, I am finding my personal preferences are leaning towards more compact pistols (think HK USPc 45/HK45c etc)---the full-size pistols are really great for the actual shooting part, but too big for packing.

FNP 45...It was recommended to me by my buds...Unfortunately they realized it is not CA legal. They each own one. CA infringed on my right to own one so I have an FNP 9...If they were on the list, I would have bought. I know there is single shot exemptions but I should not have to go through that to get a gun.

All FN pistols feel bad in hand (including the Five-seveN). Glock's don't feel too good in my hands either.

The best are 1911's and Sig's. I haven't touched a newer HK yet (P2000, HK45, P30). Can't give comments for those but I heard HK45 feels very good.

Keep in mind, the feel of the FNP-45's grip is considerably different than the FNP-9/40. The size, shape, and texture are all different although the basic grip angle and ergonomics are very similar.

Personally, I love the FNP-45 feel. I have smallish hands and I have put as many as 400 rounds through it in a session without pain.
