    Sig 220 caliber change

    Hi all.
A coworker of mine was looking into purchasing a Sig 220 in .38 Super. It's a newer made gun with a push button mag release. He wants to know if it can be converted to .45acp. I told him it probably could with a complete slide/barrel & mag swap. Has anyone done this?

    Thanks

I would think a sig p220 38 super is worth more to a collector and trade for a 45 p220. fyi ymmv

P220 .38s are a bit of a rarity (heel release more than thumb button mag release), more so then the 9mm versions and highly sought after. Glad I kept onto both although never shoot the .38 much preferring the 9mm. I would follow the advice and just get a .45 version and either pass the deal along to someone else or buy and keep it for your collection. Either way converting to .45 would require more than the barrel, you would need an extractor for .38/ 9mm and a few other pieces I believe…

Hope this gives your friend some insight although its .45 to 9mm conversion someone else was trying to accomplish...

          Hope this helps...

Why is that? SIG 220's in .45ACP are almost impossible to find...

There seems to be P220 for sale on calguns all the time as well as local shops. Yes i'm selling one. Rarely do i see 220 in 38 super. The ones one gun auction sites went for 900 to over 1200. In california would be ftf.
