    Glock: G19 or G26

I am new to the forum and not sure if this question ever came up but here it is. I'm looking into getting a 9mm handgun and the Glock has been my top choice so far. I was looking at either the G19 or G26. I've tried both and both are great. I didn't want to go for the G17 (which is still a nice pistol) because I want something more compact/sub-compact. I'm leaning towards the G19 but the G26 is in my mind.
Is the G26 worth purchasing for it's size? What do you G26 owners have to say about this mini cannon?
Any owners of both the G19 and G26, what are your 'opinions' comparing the two, which do you favor more?

I have both. I really don't shoot the 26 that much. Way more fun to shoot the 19. I would only buy the 26 if your need is a carry gun. If you're not going to carry it, then the 19 is much more comfortable to shoot and still concealable if you need it to be.

What's the intended role you want from the gun? It will help people steer you in the right direction.

G26 is what I would get, but I stick to XD platform. However my friend is giving me a g27 which is a .40 and I will add a 9mm drop in barrel

I have both the 23 and 27, the .40 equivalent in size. I personally prefer the 27, it fits my hand better, which would be the 26 equivalent

I have the G26 as a carry gun. It shoots well, but the grip is very short. I end up with a 2 finger grip, with my pinkie wrapped under the grip. It works well for carry, but the short grip makes it less fun to shoot at the range. I find myself enjoying shooting my full size Glock much more.

If you do end up going with the 26, you can deal with the short grip by using an extension plate to give you a place for the pinkie, or use the G19 magazines with grip extenders. I haven't done this because I like to shoot mine the way I carry it, but it is an option for you.

At the end of the day, it depends on how you'll use it. In your situation, I'd go with the 19, unless it was going to be your primary carry gun, in which case, I'd go with the 26.

Glock 19. The 26 is fairly limited in scope as far as usage - CCW. Where as the 19 is a better all 'arounder', unless the purpose of your purchase is CCW, 19 all the way.

Pretty much said it for me right there. The 19 is a great all around pistol for teaching, hiking/packing, CCW, SD/HD.

Me- I am finding that my medium hand is liking the slimmer grips as I go in life. So I am thinking of switching out from my 19 to a P239. Probably wont, but just a mid-life crisis change I am going through.

The Glock 19 will serve you well.

At this point, more for target shooting and adding to the collection. But I am in the process of trying to be a L.E.O. (pending CA budget), and the G26 would be a nice off-duty CCW.

                          I like both

Probably the 19 is the best 9MM in the world. The 26 is a close second if you're into concealed carry.

Here's my 19 with a arredondo mag extension. 20 rounds. My daughter likes red ..lol..and at 13, she gets to shoot it more than Dad.

However, the 26 with a mag extension is easy for me to hold. This one has a normal 15 round G19 mag with a mag sleeve (that I added skateboard tape too)...so the grip works just as good as a G19 for me. If I want to get 'smaller' I can switch out to normal 10 rounds mags.

Here we are back to almost normal on the G26....only a Magpul on the 10 round mag

My daughter shooting the 26 with the 15 round mag.

"19 is a better all 'arounder'" is exactly why I am leaning towards the G19 as well.

You should get both now. You're going to end up with both sooner or later.
                              And sooner is better.
