    Can I assume that a 1911 frame...

without parts, sold only as a frame is not importable into CA unless it's a FTF transfer? For example, a Caspian frame, unbuilt.

    Thanks,

PPT transfer only, unless you have a roster exemption.

Frame bears the serial number and IS the gun, so until the roster goes away your SOL unless it's PPT or you are exempt from the roster.

        Who would be exempt...

        from the roster?

        Thanks,

Law Enforcement Officers are exempt from the roster.

You can also try intra-family transfer.

            Thanks for the help!

But his frames are the lowest level Caspian at almost twice retail. He'll hold them for a while.

thanks for the info. I was thinking of buying from him. Didn't look up the prices (due to off-listed) until both of you mentioned. I'm patient too. Hopefully that @#$%ing roster will be gone in no time.

Once the roster goes away, check out www.fusionfirearms.com for frames, etc..
                  They look REALLY nice.

Couldn't one import it into CA with the Single Shot Exemption?

Yes, and that's leading to a resurgence in new and used Colts in California.
