    Question about handling 9mm rounds.

I just bought a Glock 17 and test loaded the magazine. What a *****! The first 6 go in easy and then its a wrestling match even with the supplied loader tool. At one point a couple of rounds flipped up in the air and clanged down on my desk. How dangerous is this and what are you experienced Glockers doing to make loading easier?

    Thanks.

My Ruger was the same way when brand new. After loading and unloading the magazine (via firing the gun) a few times it became significantly easier.

IMHO it takes way more than a desk to make a primer discharge.

All new mags are a pain at first. I remember how I would curse the 7-round mag that came with the PM9 at first. Now it's much easier.

The only danger is if your rounds land on your keyboard and accidentally send porn to your mother in law.
The mag will become easier to load the more you shoot. It will loosen up some after a while. It is a wrestling match though.

buy one of those universal mag loader ( it's like $20 bucks) and use that if it's too tight to load in the beginning, but after awhile it'll soften up. Dropping a round on the desk is relatively safe, unless a pointy end of the desk hits the primer somehow and makes it go boom. It can happen but not likely.

I have had no issues with the standard glock magazine loading tool as long as I have the base on the magazine on a table or other flat surface. Press down, insert round, lift up, insert the rest of the way, and repeat. Put some muscle into it.

The more you use it, the easier it will become. As for the dropped rounds, it takes quite a bit of force to strike off a primer. Driving to work is riskier than dropping a round.

If the one post OP referenced any gun but a Glock, there would have been no replies.

Just be careful and put them in so they go out pointy end first.

Same with my Beretta 92fs. The first two times were very tough for the last two rounds. Then things seem to be loosening up just a bit.

Glock mags loosen up? The last time I shot a glock it was a range rental and I still had trouble getting the last two rounds in.
