m&p9 recoil spring squeaky?

My m&p9 has a squeaky, dry spring sound to it when you rack the slide. It is especially noticeable if I rack the slide slowly.

The recoil spring is oiled...would replacing it get rid of the squeak? It functions perfectly fine, it just sounds rather annoying

My wifes does the same thing, but my compact 40 does not. I figured it would stop after a few rounds, but after probably 300-500 it is still doing it.

Just checked my M&P, and yeah...mine squeaks too. I actually never noticed it until I saw this thread and went to check. I have like 1400-1500 rounds through the gun now as well, for what it's worth.

Once the oil dries up, it should go away.
The recoil spring assembly is not one of the lube points on an m&p.

My M&P40 and M&P 9 dont do that . I put Tetra GUn oil all over the spring and rack the slide a few times so the lube gets in and around the spring/rod

Winner winner chicken dinner! I just went into the garage to apply a little Brian Enos grease. Totally went away.



Just a few dollops with the slide locked back. Cycle 10 times, noise went away by the 3rd action cycle.

mine squeeks but it doesnt bather me. i just shoot it more n more
