    Disassembling Chip McCormick Mags

I just picked up a couple Chip McCormick match-grade mags for my 1911 that I pick up on Saturday. I've disassembled them by depressing the spring and sticking an allen wrench through the holes and then just taking out the follower. But it kind of looks like I should be able to disassemble them through the baseplate. Any way of doing that or is it just through the top? Thanks in advance.

I'll give this one more try at the top. Otherwise I'll just always be disassembling from the top down.

Is the baseplate a removable plastic kind? If so, just push on the button in the hole and carefully remove the plastic baseplate.

It came with screw on plastic bumpers. but the part that it screws into looks removable but I can't figure out how. They may not be though.

Chips come apart thru the top by removing the follower, the base plate is welded. I ran tons of Chips in the old days, but I think the new Tripp Research makes the best 1911 mags on the planet today. You will get varied opinions of good mags especially from competitive shooters.

Good to know. Thanks. I'll stick with these for now and see how they run. If they give me trouble I'd be willing to try those ones out. Thanks again.

That is why I prefer Wilson mags. Don't care for the welded bottom mags
