**** UPDATE 04/16/2011 ****
Ahh.. picked up the gun on Friday, went to the range.. and blew through 150 rounds, nary a problem to be found.
Though the left grip decided to be a bastard and cut up my thumb. It looks like it was not flush with the metal at the very back part, and every time I shot it would chew into my skin. I have a real sore spot not right where the 'arch' of my thumb meets the gun.
Looking at both sides, the left side seems like its got a gap that sticks out. I went out and grabbed the Hogue grips anyway, put them on and it feels much better now. Has anyone else had that happen?
Other than the hand pain everything went well! Here are some of my targets, they were out 25 feet.

Hello
Ran across your great forums a little while back while doing research for my first gun. Lots of great info here, amazing what the SEARCH button can do for you..
Anyway,.. I had my mind SET on getting a Glock 22. I was/am very happy with the .40 S&W round, it suits my purposes/budget, and enjoy the perks of the round and am not bothered by the negatives.
I REALLY wanted a Glock 22 Gen4. Like, really bad. Then I realized (after doing far NOT enough research) that they are not on "the list" now (and may never be). I was majorly bummed. I had not yet realized the ways around "the list", which is good info for the future.
At the local range (Firing Line in Reseda) they have a SigSauer P226 in .40 S&W. A couple range trips ago someone had checked out the Glock 22, so in a huff I decided to try the Sig. O.M.G.
It was amazing. Felt perfect in my hands (had pretty used Hogue grips on it, no finger grooves), fired amazingly well.
Tried it again, loved it still. Everything felt 'right' about the gun (Still loved the feel of the Glocks, but this was.. drool worthy).
Put money down last week for a new P226R .40 S&W, the basic version.. didn't get night sites or NITRON (?) or anything else. Get to pick her up this coming Friday and I AM STOKED! Obviously it was more money than the Glock 22 ($799 vs like $550 or something), and that kind of sucked.. but it just felt so right.
Now.. the question.. what else do I need? Obviously AMMO and lots of it (range ammo). I would like night sights I think, as I've used them on other guns. A light/laser whatever would be nice eventually I think (Surefires are DAMN expensive!).
What else should I look into for the Sig226? I am going to work on firing with the stock grips and see how I like it vs the Hogue grips.
Thanks for reading and can't wait for the gun!
*note* this is going to be used for training at the range, learning proper gun management, and home defense (hopefully never).
