    DIY Apex DCAEK?

Has anyone installed their own DCAEK kit on their M&P? I am pretty handy, but those are some awfully small parts. Any success / failure stories would be appreciated.

It's pretty easy. I've done it twice. Correct tools make everything easy.

Trigger return spring requires patience. They give you a metal dowel which makes it easier, but be patient.

Sear plunger is easy, but don't lose it.

Rear sight removal is hit or miss. One install, a brass punch took it off easily. My new m&p, I damaged my brass punch and damages my rear sight using a steel punch to take it off. I didn't care since I'm replacing the rear sight anyway and now have the MGW sight tool. Looking back, I'd recommend buying a brass punch you don't mind ruining.

I have on an M&P 9mm Compact... It wasnt easy but it wasnt hard. Just give your self plenty of time and watch the videos that APEX have on the install. Randy makes it look super easy. I have a sight tool and was changing the sight out anyway and as C60 mentioned above the trigger return spring is a pain. The MGW sight tool runs about a 100$ and unless you own mutliple M&P that you plan on changing the sights isnt worth buying. Ive never knocked out sights with a punch but it can be done

Yup. Super easy. Hardest part might be the trigger, but it's not even that hard.

Cool. Thanks for the replies. I'm surprised to hear about the tricky rear sight.

              i've installed a couple. it's pretty easy.

when i did my gun, i didn't even need a punch for the rear sight. i just loosened the set screw and pushed them out with my thumb.

another gun i did, we had to pound on the rear sight for an hour with a steel punch. wasn't fun.

i guess it all depends on luck. i dunno what it's worth, but the one with the stuck sight had the older style.

The hardest part for me was punching out the pins holding the body. I wished I had a vice to hold the gun while hammering them out with pins.

Did it twice and both times, the hardest part was driving the rear sight to install the striker block. I also didn't install the heavier trigger return spring.

The trigger return spring is probably the hardest, IMO. Drifting the rear sight wasn't a problem at all for me. Mine moved without much effort, which was nice.

does anyone else sell the kit for cheaper than $90? They don't allow others to sell their kits?
