    ASP 9mm

Anyone ever shot the ASP? I was doing research on some random pistols and came across one of these. Kinda like the HK I posted last month, I realize this is a realllly raarre rare....rare pistol.

In it's time, it was the wazoo CCW gun...Smith was smart enough to make the 3913 which follows in it's footsteps and is a great CCW gun in it's own right..
3 day waiting period???? but I'm mad now!!!!!!

I'm just messing with ya. Sorry. I was talking about COD BLACK OPS as its in the game as a sidearm.

Just to let you know though, An S&W 3913 is basically the same gun, only cheaper and with better sights.

I think they stopped making them commercially a while ago AFAIK. You can find a couple of them on gunbroker though.

Yeah, way, way back I shot both the ASP and its contemporary, the Devel---both were high-dollar chopped and channeled S&W 9mm pistols---both were ahead of their time and showed the way for small pistols in a serious calibers. Personally, I prefered the Devel as the one I shot was made from a hi-cap pistol and held a few more rounds plus had regular sights. The ASP also featured their own unique sighting system that took quite some getting used to. The Devel pistol was finished in satin nickel and looked really cool---the ASP was finished in a matte black with yellow grips. I have an old ASP catalog somewhere in my vast collection of gun stuff---the front cover shows a beating heart screen that then goes flatline!

                      Sounds sweet.

Yea I'm really contemplating a 3913. All my LEO buddies carry those or snubbies and absolutely love them and I'm told there pretty damn accurate for there size.

The ASP was quite the cool gun in it's day and was a ground breaker for many things we take for granted in small concealment guns today. I've never be able to afford one, but was able to shoot one belonging to a friend...he had been introduced to them when working for the government (at least that's what he said). I didn't care for the scallops on the Devels

I really liked the Guttersnipe sighting system, but it does take some practice to figure it out.

Another pistol in the same gendre is the LaFrance NOVA...built of a cut down Star BKM

Cool! I'll look into them. Isnt STAR a Spanish company? It built those pistols that look simliar to the SIG P series line?

Star (by FAR the best Spanish gun maker) has been out of business for many years---the S&W 3913 (and 6906) were really quite good in their time and can take care of business today but I think they are also out of production. I must say, the little Kahrs (CW9 - P9) and the Walther PPS do everything well and are smaller, lighter and in production, getting a PPS is difficult in Kalifornia.
