Educate me on the HK P2000

Well unfortunately some worthless pieces of excrement decided to burgle my home today and take my firearms, so I was left with no choice but to seek out a replacement for my beloved G17. I held every pistol in the store today, and decided to go with the HK P2000, which is now in Kalifornia's 10 day purgatory. SO, HK owners, please educate me on what I've gotten myself into.

If you got DA/SA version, expect looooong and heavy DA pull.

I own a P2000 in 9mm. It came as a V2 (LEM) version. I changed it to the V1 (light LEM, 4.5lbs). The gun was transformed with that upgrade. It has one of the best triggers in my 9 collection. It is in my nightstand, love it.

Yes, I got the DA/SA model. I won't be using DA much unless it's in my holster. The SA pull felt very nice to me. Then again, I am coming exclusively from a G17 so everything feels nice!

The only thing I know about the P2000 is that its what the US Border Patrol carries. Nice medium sized pistol that I wouldn't mind trying someday.

Best P2000 advice: cancel the DROS and buy a Glock. Speaking from experience.

Or M&P for that matter. Not to start "HK haters" thread, but P2000 doesn't do ANYTHING more than Glock and/or M&P does.
It is your normal, every day, run-off-the-mill tappleware gun. Very reliable. Not as easy to shoot because of higher bore axis. Still reasonbably accurate ( it is combat gun after all - not target gun) Really really great ergonomics. About $300 more than Glock or M&P.

Still.... If you like it and money isn't an object - buy it.

I have V3 in .40, and it's one of my favorites. My favorite characteristics are the slim frame\slide and curved trigger. I previously had a USPC also in .40, and I like the P2K a lot more based on the features mentioned above.

I also have a G23 v3 that I shoot with GSSF, and I love Glocks for what they are, but I think the P2K is a better pistol.

I've owned an HK P2000 9mm for the last two years---one of the VERY BEST pistols I own and I have quite a few---100% reliable, reasonably slim, very accurate, lightweight, holds a decent number of rounds in magazine, good single-action trigger (DA is heavy, but thats how its supposed to be) and mine shoots right to point of aim. Enjoy your new gun and get a safe!

After Firing G17-19-22 I'm Happy with my P2000 and wouldn't trade it for anything else........ OK OK A P30. I'm impressed that 2 of the Largest Law enforcement agencies in the US have Picked the P2000 as their Duty Gun. Replacing Yes The Glock & Beretta

The comparison the glocks and M&Ps is ludicrous, especially considering that the HK in question is a DA/SA, not LEM version.

the P2000 is a nice pistol, accessories aren't very widely available, but you can get trijicon night sights for it and that's pretty much enough.

they're very nice in the hand, the quality on them is extremely high, and they're mechanically accurate as all get out.

and the mag release, once accustomed to, is sublime.

I have one for sale... I liked it, but didn't love it over my Sigs, then I got the Dan Wesson PM7, & having to choose between the HK P2000 & the Dan Wesson, I choose the DW PM7.

My P2000 was my duty weapon for the last two years before I retired. I have the V2 LEM, which has the smoothest and lightest trigger of any of my guns. (almost too light) My Glock doesn't come close to it, and my next favorite is the M&P.
