    +1 on the Kimber 22LR kit (just got mine back from repair - sticky firing pin repaired under warranty). Keep an eye out for Midway coupons for deals. Possibly one of my favorite pistols I grab for the range; also have access to a 22/45 which I hoped would emulate the 1911 in terms of grip angle; even with aftermarket grips I don't enjoy it much at all.. the ergonomics are not at all to my liking, gritty and tough slide-stop, lots of sharp edges and have had lots of ppl lose skin from pinches when the bolt returns during reloads, trigger is not that great, plus the field strip reassembly is a PITA.

      I was going to get the conversion kit for my SA Mil Spec, but many people I know, including the gun smith at the range I frequently go to, recommended a dedicated .22lr., made decision and bought the MK3 last week

        GSG 1911 isn't CA legal, is it? Or is that why you added "single-shot"?
